This blog is created and written by me; Emma Gaskin. I am a registered dietitian with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA). I work full time in the NHS and this website is a hobby I do in my spare time for fun. Views are 100% my own and do not represent the views of my employer.
Philosophy & Core Messages
The aim of this blog is promote nutrition in a factual way. Nutrition and wellbeing are promoted heavily in the media, however this information is not always accurate. I aim to dispel the myths often displayed in the media.
I actively promote a healthy balanced diet as per the EatWell Guide and recommend a ‘no fad diet’. I discourage foods being glorified and foods being demonised. I recommend that foods high in fat & sugar be consumed in moderation rather than iradicated. I disagree with food shaming and encourage a diet full of variety and focused on enjoyment.
I have signed up to RDs4Disclosure & RDs4Disclosure UK and have pledged to blog with integrity. This means I am bound by an ethical code of conduct and will not provide false or misleading information. I never make or support unjustifiable statements relating to particular products (as per HCPC & BDA guidelines) or promote one product over another (as per food industry regulations).
None of the information on this site should be considered as a medical diagnosis or treatment. In addition the information on this website does not replace seeing a healthcare professional. The area of nutrition, science and health is constantly changing, which makes it so exciting. However this means dated posts may not always contain the latest evidence or recommendations, therefore always seek advice from a qualified dietitian.
If there are any conflicts of interest then they will always be disclosed. If I receive any payment, products or other compensation, and then blog about these, this will be disclosed in any applicable post. If I do review any products or eateries, this will be only because I believe in these – in my professional and personal opinion. I cannot be swayed by incentives as per my professional duty. I have coeliac disease and so have a specialist interest in this area and all things gluten free. I may provide links to recipes or products. If you are following a gluten free diet and use any information I have provided for personal use, it remains your responsibility to check food labels and recipes to ensure these are suitable for your diet and remain gluten free. I would only endorse following a gluten free diet under the help of a registered dietitian and any information I provide does not replace this.
